Breaking away from the Marketplace ...

JailBreaking or Sideloading (which is what they call it with the Windows Mobile 7 operating system) is something of a controversial topic.

When a person buys an equipment, how much of the equipment is really owned by the user.

The reality is that ALL of it belongs to the purchaser.

The only difference is that the seller will refuse to accept warranty claims of the said equipment because its no longer in the condition that it was sold for.

In the world of Personal Computers, that clause is only valid on the "hardware", in which any tampering of the hardware will void the warranty clause.

But in the newer mobile PDA world it has moved into the "software" area as well.
As they believe that a badly written application can and will "Break" the experience of using the high-tech gadget itself.

Maybe they are learning from the Microsoft experience where everyone blames Windows for being unstable due to the "virus" attacks and "Malware" highjack's that is embedded into applications which are NOT vetted by the OS.

By allowing any application to be downloadable and installed, these newer phone experience will be tainted by the "unscrupulous" or "inexperienced" work of hackers and amateur programmers.

Thus comes to the question of who is right?

Apple used to claim that their products were the safest in the world because no virus can attack their core.
That is a half truth.
The other half is that not lot of people really bothered to create viruses for that market section.

With Apple's popularity growing by the day due to its iPhone, iPad product, more and more people will begin to be interested to hack their way into that "New World".

Thus is why Apple (Google and Microsoft as well) put in the vetting process to "protect" itself from these "unfortunate" incidents from happening.

But how long would that last?

Eventually some kid in a basement will come up with a way to hack the "un-hackable" system.
There is no doubt.
It's a matter of time.

That's a fact of life in the digital world.

PS:
Please note that this is not a iBash post.
I believe that Apple makes good products but I also believe that Microsoft and Google does the same.

They are of the same pod.
Its all about making money and how best to do it.

As a consumer we should encourage these companies to compete so that we get the best out of their R&D spending.

Being a Fan of a particular product does not mean they (The Big Company) will love you back, being a conscious consumer though will ensure that they want to be at their best.

Words on 22NOV2010

:: Another year ::

Trying to change my pace
Taking tea for coffee
Doing more reds than blue
Walking without my spectacles on
And some other stuff for food

Its not as rhythmic
not as cool as macs
don't hold much water at all
yet surprisingly adequate

we think there for we are
we feel there for we live
we cry there for we love
we stop there for we know

its not the answer to life
not an answer at all
just one man's quest for sanity
in a crazy spiraling fall from haven

I thought you never asked ...

This is whats bothering me ...
my mind is talking and I am not listening ...
am looking for a way to a solution ...
even though I already have the answer ...

finding the right answer is not a problem ...
grabbing it and doing what it says is becoming one ...

Just the way you are ...

I know there are fans out there that likes the original just the way it is.

I do too.

But this particular rendition is one of which touches me deeply.

Now you listen to pappy smurf ...

The key to success is that we do what needs to be done and move on.

Its as dumb as it gets.

There is no point dancing around, looking for an easier way to achieve it.

If you think you have succeeded in finding a simpler way, then I can only gently remind you that success is not eternal and what you have now will disappear if you think you have done it all and can rest.

Success is a work in progress.
It always is.
And always will be.

It's a holiday and I feel like a bag of rice.
Am so bloody tired that I can't make two sentence stick together properly.

Good night people.

The more you have ...

The marketplace is currently flooded with Electronic Pads.

All the mobile phone and computer makers are putting huge effort to promote what Mr.Jobs did one year ago for the iPad.

And that is to convince the general public that they need to have the latest toys in order to be cool ... again.

Why does this feel like high school all over?

The guy with the latest toys always gets the girl?

Really? (in my days yeah)

But as a sensible (and bored) consumer, the best question to ask oneself is this.

"What would I be using it for?"

The sales person will basically tell you that its a nice gadget to watch movie on the go, a portable bookshelf where you can read from your private library anytime anywhere, its the best tool use to surf the web when you are out of your home and it will (or can) replace your phone if you wish to.

So its basically a bigger sized PDA that I am currently carrying in my shirt pocket.

Wow.

Let me put this to you simply.

The reason why my PDA is still with me is because other than it being able to do everything that I mentioned above, it also fits into my shirt pocekt.

A 10" Pad does not fit into my shirt pocket.

A 7" Pad 'might' fit into my blazer pocket.

So for me, the pad is currently located in a place where it does not bring real value to me personally.

Question that begs to be asked though is "If your PDA konks off, would you buy a pad?"

The answer?

Not really.
At least not the 10" version.
The 7" or 5" pads does have its attraction but not just yet.

I have been playing around with all the existing electornic pad (Apple and Android) versions and I can safely say that its not a "technology" issue. They both pan out and deliver what they promise.

Thus the final nail comes down to "lifestyle".

Do I need another gadget to "live"?
To take me further away from the physical world as it is now?

My trusty Dell does that well enough.

So regardless of how cool these new toys are, they no longer appeal to me as it used to when I was younger.

It will take more than "everything on the go" to fill up that emptiness that it eventually brings in a long run.

The new nokia slogan comes to mind.
Its not about the technology but what you do with it that is important.

In which we try to make money from junk ...

Am doing spring cleaning or more appropriately garbage collection at my place.

Grouping up things and sending it for recycle or refurbishing.

This year though I am creating a group for stuff which i am planning to put up for sale. Like old hardware or things which I don't tend to use.

Am not familiar with the whole ebay/lelong/mudah sites so I will most probably be doing some reasearch before I put them up there to be consumed.

If anyone of you have experience on this matter, I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Will post some of the items up here from the group soon, just to get a feel of this online auction thingy.

Of which we look inside ...

The thing that gets me most in the morning to work is that I am most certainly chirpy when I start off.

But it seems to always go down hill from there.
Seldom does it compromise its pattern to something more edible.

Thus is why I am looking into the cause of this behaviour.

Simplicity dictates that it is most probably that I resent the tasks that I will performing.
And specifically the inability for me to ignore them makes it a double whammer.

Yet that is too generic for it to be of any use on this current analytical exercise.

So dwelling deeper into this, I found that it's not really the task itself that drags me down, but the way I am executing them that which caused my slow decent into oblivion.

I am to blame for my predicament.
The shoes I chose is wrong for the path.
It causes my feet to drag onto the harsh earth.
Bruising the soles that which should have protected me and allow me to walk further.

So now I need to find better boots to wear or face the possibilty of climbing a moutain with my bare feet.

If words could say more ...

Not so long ago, a woman accepted a man's proposal for marriage.

She has given him everything that he has ever dreamt for and more.

Sometimes he wonders what did he ever do to deserve her love as so.

At times he even thinks that he is dreaming and that he might wake up only to realize how empty every thing is without her in it.

He tells her that every is a miracle whenever she spends it with him.

He tells her that she is the love of his life in this life and those will forever come.

Every day he thanks the creator that he was given the chance to love her so.

So yeah, some time no long ago a man hit jackpot when a woman said 'yes'.

Happy Aniversary My Love.
